September’s Retrograde Chamber of Remembering!
September 2025 arrives wrapped in paradox!
The days are moving forward, the news cycles keep spinning, projects demand our attention and yet, deep beneath the surface, time may feel as if it has folded in on itself!
This month, astrologically the sky is filled with retrograde motion!
The lunar nodes which are always traveling in reverse remind us that our collective journey is not linear, but cyclical and the axis is between chaos (north node in Pisces) and order (south node in Virgo).
Joining them in retrograde motion for the whole month are Pluto, Chiron, Black Moon Lilith, and Neptune. And then tomorrow the 6th Uranus joins them too, beginning his backward spiral!
It's as though the cosmos has drawn us deep into an underworld chamber, a place where the external noise quiets just enough for us to hear the older, deeper stories that live in our bones.
If we were to look at these planets as archetypes in reverse action by understanding the myths and stories that have accompanied them over the thousands of years that humans have been reading the sky’s. We have:
Pluto in Aquarius who stirs up questions of power, community, and the shadows of technology. Which parts of the collective hive mind are now ripe for transformation?
Chiron in Aries reopens the wounds of identity that old ache of, “Am I enough? Do I belong?” Not to wound us again but to invite us into a new medicine of courage.
Lilith in retrograde motion whispers of the places where the feminine has been silenced or exiled. Her backward dance asks us: Where have you betrayed your own sovereignty?
Neptune in Pisces cannily dissolves illusions! Dreams become strange, veils thin, and what we thought was certain may prove to be just smoke & mirrors! Here we are asked to anchor compassion without escaping into fantasy or spiritual bypassing!
Uranus in Taurus turns the shocks and awakenings inward! Instead of outer disruption, we feel tectonic shifts within our relationship to our own body, the Earth and her resources.
And always, the Nodes of Fate on Virgo–Pisces axis reminds us that the work is both practical and mystical: to marry discernment with surrender, service with compassion, body with soul and that out of chaos comes order!
Living in Two Worlds at Once
Most of the personal planets continue their direct path this month. Life doesn’t stop; emails still arrive, bills still need paying, conversations continue. On the surface, things appear to be moving forward.
Yet beneath, everything, I mean everything is in review!
It is like driving a boat across a lake while the water currents are swirling in reverse underneath. If we are not attentive, we may wonder why we feel exhausted, confused, or out of alignment with our own intentions.
The truth is, this September is less about pushing ahead, and more about turning inward to recalibrate the codes that will carry us into the next season! So I thought I’d come up with a few ideas about how we can all navigate this time with grace and allow it to inform our wellbeing rather than feel overwhelmed in the seemingly chaotic moments.
Grace, in times like this, is found in slowing down!
Pause before acting. Let the retrogrades show you where patience is power!
Revisit old stories. Allow Pluto, Chiron, and Lilith to surface the chapters of your life that need rewriting!
Listen for inner awakenings. Uranus may surprise you with sudden insight rather than outer chaos! Make note of your waking and night dreams!
Discern vision from illusion. Neptune asks us to be present, to dream, but not to drift away.
Practice compassion. The Virgo–Pisces axis reminds us: small acts of service and presence ripple out into the wider world around us!
If you feel you would benefit heres a simple practice or ritual you can use to stay grounded and calm!
If you wish, light six candles, place them in on your altar if you have one, if not then place them on a window cill or safe surface. One each for Pluto, Chiron, Lilith, Neptune, Uranus, and finally one for the Nodes of fate.
As you light each flame, whisper: “I honour the turning within of…” and speak the planet’s name.
Then sit in silence.
Allow their medicine to surface in you.
Journal what arises from within you.
We are in a deeply reflective chamber of remembering. The cosmos is not punishing us; it is beckoning us inward. These retrogrades are best viewed, not delays, but initiations. They invite us to trust the stillness within, to hold the questions without rushing to answers, to walk with patience and compassion for ourselves and for others.
This month, may we remember that even in apparent reversal, life is always moving us forward.
In stillness I remember, in darkness I recalibrate, in truth I re-emerge!
